Views on competitive gaming?

What's your views on competitive online gaming? Starcraft 2 is growing ever more popular by each day and some people consider that a good thing, others are more skeptical about, and some straight up don't like that.

Could watching live tournaments on national TV become a reality? Tasteless (Nicolas Plott, right side) and Artosis (Dan Stemkoski, left side), also known as "Tastosis the casting Archon", are considered one of the best and most mainstream appealing casting duo in the business right now. Do you consider that you yourself and the average Joe (well maybe the average Joe who likes video games) could enjoy watching a game like this even if you don't completely grasp the idea and whats going on all the time? Does it have the necessary mainstream appeal or not? Share your thoughts !

  1. Honestly, I don't know a thing about StarCraft but I can follow how the games go pretty well.

  2. It's human nature to be competitive. Personally I really like a good challenge as it shows you have interest and are willing to develop yourself further in that field. There are people that despise it though and I have no objection to their beliefs, some just want to have fun without being serious.

On a side note, you should consider disable captcha for comments :)

  3. I think that LoA is much better than SC II, first of all SC is so hardly advertised its hard to tell if this popularity is genuine. O

  7. competitive gaming is viable as a sport - it all depends on how many people will pay to watch it

  10. Honestly, competitive gaming in my head spells out Counterstrike.. That's the only sort that I could ever get into. I just think nothing compares to those days.

  11. I don't like watching other people play video games, I'd rather play myself.

  12. I play League of Legends, it's pretty fun playing ranked games and telling other people how bad they are when you beat them.. I think I'd only watch people play competitive games if I was live at the venue, though.

  13. I would only watch these games if I was watching them in person.

  14. Competitive gaming gives games that normally wouldnt have a very long lifespan, a much longer one. Imagine if Halo 1 didnt have multiplayer, you'd play it once, never touch it again and move on. I think it helps games a lot.

  15. I don't do "true" competitive ranked SC2 play, but me and a friend use to teamup in 2v2 matches ranked play. It's good that it has such a huge professional scene, since that'll make it popular for years to come :)

  20. I would watch certain competitive games but I don't think I would keep in focus as I do football and others. I think with video games I would rather be the one playing the game rather than the spectator.
